COVID-19 and Paddles Blazing ASU activity
The Scout Association has been working with the lead body for youth activites, namely the National Youth Agency. The agency has been appointed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to manage the requirements for youth activities during COVID-19 restrictions. Paddles Blazing ASU have been following the guidelines and have developed an in depth risk assessment and procedures which will now allow some members to paddle. This risk assessment has been approved at County level. This is while the Risk rating in England for scout activity is at AMBER - this will be on the 29th March 2021. So at the beginning of April 2021 we will pilot some sessions and review the risk assessment before we rioll out more regular paddling.
Whilst no risk assessment can guarantee a completely 100% COVID free activity the measures we have detailed will reduce the risk to very low, utilising social disatncing during the activity. Allowing a member to attend is a decision for parents.
Attendees for canoeing will be by strict appointment only and numbers will be limited. There may be some paddling at weekends at Warrington Scout Campsite in Grappenhall our regulalr paddling evening is also moving to Tuesdays. The campsite have also had their risk assessment approved by County. Potentally we can enable some scouts to enjoy controlled face to face activity in the great outdoors.
When we are ready an email will be sent out to exisiting 2019 attendees seeking interest in a session. Any other members who haven't been before could email the ASU Manager, Mark
